I hadn't posted this before, but from now on with my lip swatche posts I'll be including this picture to reference my natural lip colour:
OK so to get started I have today 4 holiday glosses which the ever-so-lovely Caitlin was kind enough to include in a previous order. I have worn a few of them once, and a few of them multiple times. I'm not a big gloss fan but let me say that I absolutely LOVE all of these; they are by far my favourite Shiro gloss 'set'. If I had to be stranded on a desert island with one gloss, forever, it would be one of these.
I feel like each one worked really well on me and I'm madly in love with the design and aesthetic, the opacities and shades etc (with one exception, you'll find out below).
I was lucky enough to receive Bough of Holly (bottom), Sugared Plums (middle), Stuffed Stockings (top) and Figgy Pudding (not pictured). See end of this post for arm swatches. These do come with a clean edge between each colour block, like you can see in the bottom of each tube; however they are blurred and smooshed together at the tops because I've been using them for awhile now and have mixed them up in the process.
I have swatched all of these over bare lips - no primers, no pencils, nada. All pictures were taken in natural diffused light.
Bough of Holly
This one is my FAVOURITE sheer Shiro gloss. the tube is a candy stripe mix of green and red; but it blends together to form an ever-so-sheer nutty brown with a slight purple tone, depending on how well your mixing skills are. This would be my desert-island choice. Fo' sure. It's deliciously sheer, sweet-scented and long-wearing. The scent reminds me of soft chewy candies, like gummy bears. No shimmer, just a hint of colour in a sweet thick gloss. this one is a winner and I freaking love, love, LOVE it.

Sugared Plums
This one I'm a bit 50/50 on. It's a sheer chocolate brown with purple tones - as you can see on my lips it's distinctly berry. Which I love. It does have a tendency to sink into lip lines however, and being that it's so sheer it might be best over a pencil base of similar colour. I did find it a bit streaky, because of the sheerness, so it's a bit fiddly to apply evenly. That said, there's something about this one that i just love - I mean, look at that colour! Phwar. Would recommend this one for those with mad gloss skills or the patience of a mountain goat.

Figgy Pudding
This shade isn't a candy cane style gloss, but a one-colour-wonder like most of Shiro's range. Figgy Pudding looks very oxide-y (new word yo) in the tube, but on the lips it's a nice terracota warm-red with brown tones. The oxide look disappears and we're left with a definite gloss, not a liquid lipstick. It isn't super high on the opacity scale, but it's easy enough to work with. I can't identify the scent well but it is less candy and more food-like. I suppose I can picture a pudding with this scent but it's a stretch. Either way, it's not an unpleasant.
Although a lovely & flattering shade, it's not likely one that I will wear frequently as it's heading towards the brick-red/rust palette which I don't really do.
Figgy Pudding, natural light.

Stuffed Stockings
This one is interesting to me. It's leaning towards being a more opaque gloss, but in a light rose tone with slight mauve accents. It has a sprinkling of golden shimmers throughout, which made this one unique. I did notice a wee bit of lip stinging, it's possible this one has a bit of peppermint flavour or such which may not agree with sensitive lips. It did die off after a few minutes however.
In the tube it's a mix of cream shimmer and red, I thought this one was going to be more sheer like Bough of Holly, and was pleasantly surprised at the opacity. I really enjoy this colour and know I will use it again.
Stuffed Stockings, natural light.

Arm swatches, applied over bare skin.
Here is a quick arm swatch for easier colour comparison. You can see here that Sugared Plums is a distinct brown tone, but the sheerness is so that it looks quite berry applied - even on my pale rose-coloured lips. You can also see how sheer Bough of Holly is, and the nice opacity that comes with Stuffed Stockings.
All of these glosses were provided to me as a gift, but I've chosen to swatch and review them here today - all opinions are my own.
I absolutely love all of these shades, and would buy all except Figgy Pudding (as the shade isn't quite right for me). Although Sugared Plums has application issues, I can't not love that colour - so for me the colour won over the applications con's.
Now, are these available?
Honestly, I am not sure. they may have been part of the 2014 Christmas releases with Shiro but I must have missed them if so. I can't say whether they will make a reappearance in future, but if so I highly encourage people to check these out as you may be pleasantly surprised like I was :)
Thank you for reading!
